At the 2025 San Diego Comic-Con, filmmaker George Lucas introduced his forthcoming Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, co-founded with his wife, Mellody Hobson. Scheduled to open in 2026 in Los Angeles' Exposition Park, the museum aims to serve as "a temple to the people's art," celebrating storytelling across various media.

Designed by Ma Yansong of MAD Architects, the 300,000-square-foot structure features a futuristic, flowing form that integrates seamlessly with the surrounding park landscape. The museum will house an extensive collection of narrative art, including "Star Wars" memorabilia, classic comics, and works by artists such as Norman Rockwell, Maxfield Parrish, Kara Walker, and Norman Lewis.

The museum's location alongside other cultural and academic institutions underscores its commitment to fostering a vibrant arts community. While the opening date is yet to be finalized, the project has already garnered significant attention for its ambitious scope and design.

Lucas's vision for the museum is rooted in his lifelong passion for art and storytelling. He expressed a desire to create a space that honors the rich tapestry of narratives that shape popular culture. The museum is expected to become a pivotal institution for both art enthusiasts and the general public, offering a unique exploration of narrative art forms.

As the museum nears completion, anticipation continues to build, with expectations that it will become a landmark destination in Los Angeles, contributing significantly to the city's cultural landscape. The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art represents a bold step forward in the evolution of museums, blending art, technology, and storytelling in a way that reflects the dynamic nature of contemporary culture.
